Prof. Tao Li is a Professor of Chemistry at Virginia Tech and a leading researcher in electrochemical energy storage, catalysis, and advanced materials characterization. His research integrates synchrotron-based X-ray techniques with materials design to uncover fundamental structure–property relationships in batteries and catalysts. He has made significant contributions to the development of high-voltage lithium-metal batteries, solid-state electrolytes, and single-site catalysts for energy-conversion reactions. By pioneering operando and in situ characterization approaches, Dr. Li enables direct observation of material evolution under realistic operating conditions. His work bridges fundamental chemistry and practical energy technologies, accelerating the development of next-generation sustainable energy systems.
