Prof. Tao Li is a Professor of Chemistry at Virginia Tech and a leading researcher in electrochemical energy storage, catalysis, and advanced materials characterization. His research integrates synchrotron-based X-ray techniques with materials design to uncover fundamental structure–property relationships in batteries and catalysts. He has made significant contributions to the development of high-voltage lithium-metal batteries, solid-state electrolytes, and single-site catalysts for energy-conversion reactions. By pioneering operando and in situ characterization approaches, Dr. Li enables direct observation of material evolution under realistic operating conditions.
